Foster to Adopt
Every year, thousands of children enter the foster care system in need of safety, security, nurturing, love, all of the things you get from good parenting. Many of our children are able to return to their birth family, but many are not and are in need of a family willing to make a permanent commitment. We encourage families to consider becoming a resource family. A resource family is there for a child when they come into the foster care system and is willing to adopt that child if the goal of reunification is changed to adoption. We want to prevent a child from being moved multiple times.
If you don’t think being a foster parent is the right thing for you, we also have children already waiting for someone to step forward and make a commitment to provide them with a permanent home. They need someone to adopt them.
For more information regarding how Foster to Adopt works, contact ACPA at (724) 371-0671. We are looking forward to hearing from you so we can share with you the wonderful children that are available through the Statewide Adoption Network (SWAN), about their needs and what you need to do to start your journey to become a foster and/or adoptive parent.
Respite care is the provision of short-term accommodation in a home outside the home in which a child may be placed. Adoption Connection, PA realizes the need for temporary relief to those who are caring for children. A respite home would provide planned short-term and time-limited breaks for families.
Even though many families take great joy in providing care to children who are placed in their home as foster or adoptive placement, there are times the physical, emotional and financial consequences for the family can be overwhelming without some support, such as respite. Adoption Connection, PA provides respite care for all children in our foster homes as well as when the local children and youth agencies makes a referral for respite.
Please consider being that family who is willing to help another. For more information, call ACPA at (724) 371-0671 and ask for Robin.
“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.”
